Protest,
power and participation at the Convention
of the Left
Saturday 20th September
Friends Meeting House, Mount Street, Manchester
This
first day of the Convention brings together both national and
international themes. In an increasingly globalised world what
has the left got to say about national identity or the vexed question
of immigration? Should trade unions work together across borders
- or even merge - or should they just look after their own national
patch? And in a seemingly ever more ‘security conscious’
world how does the Left respond to the challenge of ID cards?
With a Stop the War protest followed by the Convention opening
session and finished off with a relaxed evening social - where
the discussion is bound to continue - this day will set the Convention
off to a flying start.
